Record a clear first tutorial in OBS Studio
The first useful recording is usually a short explanation of one task. A focused scene and a quick audio test make a bigger difference than a complicated streaming setup.
Build one scene
Create a scene for the tutorial and add only the sources you need. A window capture can keep the recording focused on one application; a display capture includes a broader desktop. Check which source is visible, how it is cropped and whether the pointer needs to appear.
Check sound before a long take
- Choose the microphone you intend to use and speak at your normal distance.
- Watch the audio meters while talking and while playing any demonstration sound.
- Record a short test, stop it and listen to the saved file.
- Check that desktop audio is not being captured twice through two different sources.
Keep the first test brief. It is much cheaper to adjust an input after thirty seconds than after a complete tutorial.
Keep a repeatable routine
Choose an output folder you can find again, close unrelated windows and follow a small outline. Start the recording, pause briefly, demonstrate the task and stop cleanly. Review the saved file before changing the scene for the next project. A scene collection is easier to maintain when its names describe what each scene is for.
