A five-minute export check for documents, images and video
An export can succeed technically and still be wrong for the person receiving it. A brief inspection of the delivery file catches many avoidable problems.
Open the exported file independently
Review the file saved to disk rather than only the editing project. Open a PDF in a reader, an image at its intended size and a video in a playback application. This checks the output rather than the editor’s preview.
Use a small checklist
- Confirm the filename, format and output location.
- Inspect the first and last pages or frames.
- Check a representative section with tables, small text, motion or detailed graphics.
- Verify expected links, transparency, audio and subtitles where relevant.
For a document, review page breaks and clipped tables. For an image, check dimensions and background. For a video, confirm the intended tracks and play a section with speech.
Keep a recoverable hand-off
Store the editable master separately from the final delivery copy. If several people are reviewing the work, use a clear revision name and identify which file is current. Keep the original inputs until the recipient has accepted the result. These simple habits are more reliable than relying on a filename that merely contains the word final.
